Goodmorning.Thisweek,myAdministrationmetakeyobjectiveinoureffortstobettersecureourNation'sborder.

InMay,Ipledged范文先生版权所有todeployupto6,000NationalGuardmemberstosuorttheBorderPatrol,andwefulfilledthatpledgebyAugust1st.ThroughOperationJumpStart,NationalGuardmembersarenowondutysuortingtheBorderPatrolinTexas,California,Arizona,andNewMexico.

OnThursday,IvisitedtheRioGrandeValleyBorderPatrolSectorinTexas.IsawfirsthandhowtheNationalGuardisworkingwithourBorderPatrolagentstoimprovebordersecurity.NationalGuardtrooarehelpingwithsurveillance,cotruction,andlogistics.They'rebuildingandrepairingfences,maintainingvehicles,andmaingdetectionequipmentontheborderandincommandcenters.

ThearrivalofNationalGuardunitshasallowedtheBorderPatroltomovemoreagentsintofront-linepositio,andthisadditionalmaowerisdeliveringresults.WiththesuortoftheNationalGuard,BorderPatrolagentshaveseizedover17,000poundsofillegaldrugsandcaughtmorethan2,500illegalimmigrantssinceJune15th.Justlastmonth,BorderPatrolagentsintheRioGrandeValleySectorconfiscatedmorethan4,200poundsofmarijuanahiddeninatractortrailer.AndthesuortoftheNationalGuardwasimportantinmakingthisseizurehaen.

Rationalandcompreheiveimmigrationreformmustbeginwithbordersecurity,andwehavemoretodo.SoI'veaskedCongretofunddramaticincreasesinmaowerandtechnologyfortheBorderPatrol.Wewilladd6,000newBorderPatrolagents.Wewillbuildhigh-techfencesinurbancorridorsandnewpatrolroadsandbarriersinruralareas.Andwewillemploymotionseors,infraredcameras,andunmaedaerialvehiclestopreventillegalcroings.Bydeploying21stcenturytechnologies,wewillmakeourBorderPatrolagentsevenmoreeffectiveandourbordermoresecure.
