文化差异(Culture Difference):少数民族与多数民族之间的合作
Majority-Minority Cooperation
The face that a minority will peacefully accept the results of an election and offer to cooperate with those they opposed is difficult for many visitors to understand . Some people wonder how the minority is ever heard if the majority rules. As the visitor will soon learn for himself, the ,minority is not only heard ;it is also very powerful and influential.
For example , it is interesting to attend and observe the minority in action at a meeting in a small American town. There are usually a great many arguments at such meetings. After everyone has had an opportunity to express is opinion, there is usually a vote to decide the issue in question. When the vote has been taken, you will see the losers and the winners shake hands and enjoy themselves in friendly conversation as if they had not opposed one another just a few minutes before. The losers do not feel dishonored [1] . They realize that they must begin at once to work harder to build majority support so that at the next vote or the next election, their side will win.
[1] dishonor v. (=dlishonour )<英>使丢脸
